IDEC Contributes to the Establishment Process of the China–Türkiye Chamber of Commerce with a Digital Economy Perspective

Istanbul, January 2026 – The completion of the official application for the establishment of the Turkish Chamber of Commerce in China is regarded as an important milestone for Türkiye–China economic relations. Among the institutions contributing to this process, the Istanbul Digital Economy Club (IDEC) is providing input with its digital economy perspective.

According to information shared by Mr. K. Yaprak Taşar, Commercial Attaché of Shanghai, the official application for the establishment of the Turkish Chamber of Commerce in China has been successfully completed following many years of dedicated efforts. Although the process is still at the application stage, this initiative is expected to significantly strengthen the commercial activities of Turkish companies operating in China.

During the workshop held as part of the establishment process, a comprehensive roadmap was developed regarding the chamber’s priorities, fields of activity, and organizational structure, accompanied by extensive exchanges of views among public and private sector stakeholders. In this context, the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Beijing and the Commercial Counsellor’s Office in Beijing was emphasized, while the Commercial Attaché Office in Shanghai expressed its readiness to contribute with respect to the region.


IDEC: A Digital and Smart Trade Perspective

The Istanbul Digital Economy Club (IDEC) approaches the establishment process of the China–Türkiye Chamber of Commerce from the perspective of digital economy, smart trade, data-driven business models, and technology-oriented cooperation.

In this framework, the cooperation proposals submitted by IDEC to the Establishment Committee of the China–Türkiye Chamber of Commerce in January 2026 include the following key points:

  • Establishment of a “Digital Economy Working Group” within the Chamber,

  • Development of digital B2B matchmaking mechanisms between Turkish and Chinese companies,

  • Preparation of joint reports and policy briefs on digital trade and smart supply chains,

  • Cooperation in events and summits bringing together the Turkish and Chinese business communities,

  • Joint consideration of support and guidance models to facilitate Turkish companies’ access to the Chinese market.


Founding Member Serdar Kulu Participated in the Workshop

The workshop organized within the scope of the establishment process was attended by Mr. Serdar Kulu, Founding Member of the Istanbul Digital Economy Club (IDEC).Representing IDEC’s digital economy-oriented approach, Mr. Kulu shared his views and contributions during the evaluation sessions and closely followed the development of the proposed roadmap.


The Importance of Unity and Experience Sharing

As emphasized by Mr. Yaprak Taşar, participation in this initiative is of great importance for all associations and companies seeking to do business with China or to expand their activities in the region. Acting in unity among Turkish companies and enhancing experience sharing among stakeholders familiar with the Chinese market will increase both the efficiency and the success of this process.

In this direction, IDEC respectfully announces to the public that it is ready to provide guidance and information sharing regarding the China–Türkiye Chamber of Commerce, communication channels, and opportunities in the field of digital trade.
